All Yield Prophet paddocks MUST be sampled to full potential rooting depth (at least 1 m) prior to sowing, preferably in March or early April.
Soil cores MUST be segmented e.g. divided into sections of 0-10, 10-40, 40-70, 70-100 cm depth. Detailed instructions on soil sampling for Yield Prophet are available here or contact Tim McClelland Phone: 03 9882 2670 Mobile: 0400 090 659 E-mail: yieldprophet@bcg.org.au
Analyses Required The soil analyses that you will require for Yield Prophet depend on soil depth and whether your paddock has been in Yield Prophet previously. Use the statements below to decide what analyses will be required for each of your paddocks.
My paddock has been in Yield Prophet previously and I have measurements of EC, Chloride, pH and organic carbon segmented down the soil profile to full potential rooting depth – In 2008 you will only require soil to be analysed for water and nitrate
Cost CSBP: $13.20 incl. GST per sample
(Click here for further detail on how to send samples to CSBP)
My paddock has not been in Yield Prophet previously – in 2008 you will need to have your top-soil (0-10 cm) analysed for: - Gravimetric water content -Nitrate -Organic Carbon -pH -EC -Chloride
Cost CSBP: $25.30 incl. GST per sample
(Click here for further detail on how to send samples to CSBP)
AND your sub-soil (any layers below 10cm) analysed for: - Gravimetric water content -Nitrate -pH -EC -Chloride
Cost CSBP: $20.90 incl. GST per sample
